The Teaching Diploma Certificate


Introduction to the Teaching Certificate 

The Teaching Diploma Certificate (Decree No. 3685 of 2012) issued by the Faculty of Teacher Education at Makassed University provides its holders with educational competencies, allowing them to start teaching all levels related to pre-university education, in one or more specific or various disciplines.

Motives prompted Makassed University to initiate the Teaching DiplomaIt is no longer sufficient for teachers to master the subject of their specialization in order to fulfill their mission of teaching future generations. Mastering the subject matter, despite its importance, remains incomplete if it is not supported by a number of competencies necessary to perform the educational process to its fullest. Therefore, all educational institutions have evolved their recruitment requirements and conditions in order to upraise the Teaching Diploma to become a passport to entry the field of education at various stages.

The mission of the University is to guarantee the best opportunities to meet the needs of society in general and its graduates in particular. It also aims at providing the best opportunities to those who aspire to improve their educational skills in various disciplines, in a growing and increasingly demanding job market. Since the changing requirements of public and private education in Lebanon require greater opportunities to fill vacancies and jobs in the field of pre-university education, the administration of Makassed University has accelerated its efforts to start its Teaching Diploma.

Objectives of the Teaching Diploma

The Teaching Diploma aims at preparing and training graduates with a university or educational degree to work in the teaching field. It qualifies them for such positions and enables them to fulfill their educational mission. Thus, they will be equipped with modern educational and applied competencies that meet the challenges of the labor market in public and private education.

Outputs and Competencies

The Teaching Diploma aims at providing teachers – learners with skills, competencies and outputs related to specialization, educational knowledge and trends needed by society and the labor market. It is aligned with the current requirements and developing international standards for teaching profession. Hence, the Teaching Diploma provide graduates with teaching and professional competencies to enable them to perform the following:

1 -Acquiring competencies resulting from the education of specialization subject (Subject Didactics);

2- Planning and implementing approved modern teaching methods;Using modern technology in teaching and learning; as well as ways to master these technologies;

3-  Designing and preparing educational subjects in general, whether addressing general educational sessions or particular educational sessions.

4- Providing appropriate educational activities and means to achieve the subject objectives;

5- Adapting to the courses requirements and needs and adopting teaching strategies and methods in different situations;

6- Using a variety of tools and means of evaluation, in terms of the learner’s competencies, knowledge and skills, as well as the learner’s level of understanding and comprehension in order to provide certain feedback;

7-  Self-evaluating in the educational process;

8-  Implementing plans acquired from procedural research materials (Action/Research);

9-  Navigating the education process, which enables teachers to interpret the learners’ test results and adopt appropriate methods to address learners’ weaknesses detected through the teaching phase;

10-  Acquiring creative, innovative and scientific thinking skills to solve non-academic problems in classroom.

Study Program

The Study program of the academic year 2021-2022 was established according to an integrated study plan, under both the theoretical and practical levels. It consists 30 credit courses, distributed over 14 weeks (21 hours at a rate of 1.5 per session) within two Semesters of the academic year, in addition to 3 days per week of theoretical instruction. Courses address requirements relevant for obtaining General Teaching Diplomas, and other courses relevant to Specialty Certificates.
